چکیده

ObjectiveTo assess the role of neck circumference (NC) in assessing insulin resistance (IR) polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).DesignA cross-sectional study.SettingUniversity-affiliated hospital.Patient(s)One hundred forty-three women with PCOS were recruited from November 2018 to February 2020.Intervention(s)None.Main Outcome Measure(s)The associations NC IR and cutoff points for IR.Result(s)The prevalence rates 64.3%. The patients had significantly greater values systolic blood pressure, NC, body mass index, waist-to-hip ratio, waist circumference, fasting glucose, insulin, homeostasis model assessment (HOMA-IR). Pearson correlation analysis showed index (log-transformed), HOMA-IR (log-transformed) positively correlated NC. Multivariable linear regression that was associated standardized coefficient 0.330 adjustment potential confounding factors. Furthermore, multivariate logistic analyses increased risk IR, adjusted odds ratio 1.423. Additionally, able identify PCOS; optimal cut-off 34.3 cm (Youden = 0.586).Conclusion(s)Neck is PCOS. We suggest as a novel, simple, practical, reliable anthropometric measure be used predict To (PCOS). A study. University-affiliated hospital. One 2020. None. IR. 0.586). Neck

Obesity and insulin resistance in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the impact of obesity and various phenotypes of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) on the insulin sensitivity index (ISI) and insulin resistance (IR). METHODS ISI and IR from 273 women in four phenotypes of PCOS and control groups were evaluated retrospectively. RESULTS The ISI and the percentage of IR were not significantly different among discrete phenotypes of PCOS gr...

Insulin resistance in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is associated with insulin resistance. There are also defects in pancreatic beta-cell function in affected women. These abnormalities are heritable. There are post-binding defects in insulin receptor signaling, with selective resistance to insulin's metabolic actions and constitutively activated mitogenic signaling in skeletal muscle. Intrinsic and environmental...

Triglyceride Is a Useful Surrogate Marker for Insulin Resistance in Korean Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

PURPOSE To evaluate lipid profiles and liver enzymes as surrogate markers used for recognizing insulin resistance in Korean women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). MATERIALS AND METHODS 458 women with PCOS were divided into two groups: non-obese with a body mass index (BMI)<25.0 kg/m² and obese with a BMI≥25.0 kg/m². Anthropometric measures and blood sampling for hormone assay, liver enz...

High Serum Ferritin Concentrations in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Is Not Related to Insulin Resistance

OBJECTIVE: Some data are available on the association between components of the insulin resistance syndrome and serum ferritin. Insulin resistance is observed in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) We hypothesize that body iron stores might be increased in these women. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two hundred and six people (103 PCOS patients and 103 healthy women who were matched for a...

Insulin resistance and adverse metabolic profile in overweight/obese and normal weight of young women with polycystic ovary syndrome

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOs) is an endocrine-metabolic disorder. This study intends to determine the comparison of insulin resistance (IR) and metabolic disturbance in overweight/obese and normal-weight of young women with polycystic ovary syndrome. Methods: Using a comparative cross-sectional study design in 2015, 27 normal weight (18<bmi Results: 112 women with PCOS participa...
